T20 World Cup: In the most recent Super-12 match, India defeated Zimbabwe by 71 runs in front of an enthusiastic MCG crowd of over 82,000. With this result, the men in blue finished first in their group with 8 points, one point ahead of archrivals Pakistan.

India blanked Zimbabwe by 71 runs here on Sunday to advance to the T20 World Cup semifinals against England.

On Thursday, India will face England in the second semifinal at the Adelaide Oval.

Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul both hit half-centuries as India posted a total of 186 for five in their final Group 2 match.

As the Rohit Sharma-led side limited Zimbabwe to 115 runs, Ravichandran Ashwin was the star bowler for India, picking up three wickets, while Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami each picked up two.

Zimbabwe was bowled out for 115 in 17.2 overs in response.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed after making 15, but Rahul continued to score a 35-ball 51.

Suryakumar then hit an unbeaten 61 off 25 balls to help India. Ravichandran Ashwin was the most successful Indian bowler, taking three wickets.

After Rahul gave India a nice beginning with his 35-ball 51, infused with three fours and as many sixes, along with a 60-run stand off 48 balls for the second wicket with Virat Kohli, they fell into a mini slump as the final five overs approached.

Brief Scores: India: 186/5 in 20 overs (KL Rahul 51, Suryakumar Yadav 61 not out; Sean Williams 2/9).

Zimbabwe: 115 all out in 17.2 overs (Ryan Burl 35, Sikandar Raza 34; Ravichandran Ashwin 3/22).
