This victory is even more meaningful for Lovlina because it is her first medal in the 75kg category. Her previous weight category of 69kg has been dropped from the Paris Olympics programme, so she has moved up.

Before this, Lovlina had bronze medals from the Asian Championships, World Championships, and the Olympics to her name. With a gold medal in her trophy cabinet, it appears the Assam boxer has begun her Olympic campaign in earnest, and in stunning fashion.
