IPL 2023: Assam’s Riyan Parag, has recently come under fire for his poor performance despite being heavily backed by the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023. When the required rate was nearing 15, Parag scored 15 runs off 12 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday, April 20. RR coach Kumar Sangakkara has made a significant statement on his form and poor returns.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered their second loss of the 2023 IPL season, with Riyan Parag drawing the most criticism for his meager returns. Parag, who has been with the Royals for five seasons, has failed to make his imprint in the cash-rich league, and despite coming off a good domestic season, the Assam batter has struggled with his form yet again.

On Wednesday, too, Parag had the best chance to silence his detractors, with the Royals needing 51 runs off 29 deliveries. However, he struggled to get going, and despite hitting a six, he only scored 15 runs off 12 balls.

On the broadcast, even Kevin Pietersen chastised Parag for his lack of desire when he played a defensive shot when the Royals needed 29 runs off 12 deliveries. After the Royals were unable to chase down the 155-run goal, coach Kumar Sangakkara was queried about Parag’s role and future in the team. Sangakkara stated that the Royals support their players, but that they will address the Parag issue and make a decision in the future games.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri slammed Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag’s sluggish start in the match against Lucknow Super Giants.

Parag got four runs off his first eight deliveries, disrupting Devdutt Padikkal’s rhythm. Shastri was unequivocal in his assessment that Parag’s poor start altered the trajectory of the game. Devdutt Padikkal, according to the veteran, also lost his touch as a result of Parag’s knock.

Table toppers in the IPL 2023 Rajasthan Royals fell 10 runs short of Lucknow Super Giants’ competitive total of 154 at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Wednesday. Rajasthan Royals got off to a good start, with Jos Buttler (41) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (45) putting on a reasonable opening partnership of 87 runs in under 12 overs. The LSG bowlers, on the other hand, kept things tight throughout the game, with Marcus Stoinis scalping two in four overs and conceding only 28 runs.

While many chastised Sanju Samson and the Royals management for repeatedly selecting Parag, with some wondering why he was sent ahead of Dhruv Jurel, many others enjoyed cracking memes at the expense of the 21-year-old Guwahati batsman.
