IPL Auction 2023: The destinies of some of the biggest names in world cricket are being decided at a luxury hotel in Ernakulam as the Indian Premier League season 2023 mini-auction gets underway in Kochi. Each of the ten teams is tasked with bolstering their squad by signing picks from a limited pool of cricketers in the mini-auction. While veteran campaigner Mayank Agarwal is expected to go under the hammer in the first set, Australia’s Cameron Green is expected to spark a bidding war at the mini-auction. Former England captain Joe Root and Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza have also entered the IPL 2023 race.

The bidding for Mayank begins with RCB and PBKS. CSK has entered the race. The bid is approaching INR 4 crore. SRH begins bidding at INR 4 crore. CSK and SRH raise the bid above INR 5 crore. CSK has made an 8 crore bid! SRH advances at INR 8.25 crore. Mayank Agarwal was purchased by SRH for INR 8.25 crore.

Rahane SOLD to CSK for the opening bid of INR 50 lakh.


Joe Root is UNSOLD at base price of INR 1 crore.


Former England captain Joe Root failed to find a buyer at the mini-auction. Root has yet to be sold! For the IPL 2023 auction, the Englishman listed himself at INR 1 crore. Rilee Rossouw, who has not accepted any bids, has joined Root on the unsold list. Rossouw’s net worth is INR 2 crore.

Hugh Edmeades, the popular auctioneer, has taken the centre stage for the mini-auction after IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal welcomed teams and BCCI officials in Kochi. Kane Williamson is the first name from the Set. Williamson has joined the Gujarat Titans! GT opened the bidding for Williamson at his base price after a brief pause. GT buys him for INR 2 crore.
