IND vs SL Guwahati: Virat Kohli began 2023 in the same way he ended 2022: by smashing another ODI century. This has moved him up two spots to sixth place among batters, with 726 rating points.

Captain Rohit Sharma also impressed on his return from injury, scoring a blistering 83 off 67 balls. With 715 rating points, he moved up to eighth place, passing England’s Jonny Bairstow.

The Men in Blue’s comprehensive 67-run win over Sri Lanka in Guwahati on January 10 saw a number of players move up a few spots in the latest ICC ODI Rankings.

Shreyas Iyer, who scored 28 runs, remained in 15th place, while Shubman Gill moved up two spots to 36th after a quickfire 70 against Sri Lanka. Hardik Pandya dropped three spots to 76th among batters after struggling with the bat in the first ODI, scoring only 14 runs.

Kohli moved up two spots to sixth after scoring a stunning century in India’s first ODI victory over Sri Lanka in Guwahati. Rohit Sharma, who scored an aggressive 83, has moved up to eighth place. Despite his team’s defeat, Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka scored a fighting century and has risen 20 places to number 61.

Mohammed Siraj has risen four places to number 18 in the bowling rankings after taking two wickets in the first ODI. Suryakumar Yadav’s reign at the top of the T20I rankings charts was extended by his brilliant century in the third T20I against Sri Lanka.

Usman Khawaja, on the other hand, moved up to eighth in the Men’s Test batters’ rankings after his stunning century in the third and final Test against South Africa in Sydney.

Khawaja was unbeaten on 195 but fell short of his double century as skipper Pat Cummins declared to force a result in a rain-shortened match. Khawaja’s exploits saw him climb four spots and enter the top ten.

Performers from the drawn Test between Pakistan and New Zealand also made significant gains, including Tom Latham, Devon Conway, and Saud Shakeel.
