The FIFA World Cup 2022 opening ceremony will feature popular names from the entertainment industry performing before 32 teams from around the world begin competing for the coveted title.

The opening ceremony will take place at the 60,000-seat Al Bayt Stadium, located 40 kilometres north of Doha. The Al Bayt Stadium, the most remote but also one of the largest venues from central Doha, is named and designed after nomadic tents used in the Gulf. It has a retractable roof as well.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 opening ceremony will be broadcast live on Sports18 and Sports18 HD TV channels in India, and Jio Cinema’s app and website will both offer free live streaming of the event. According to some reports, the ceremony will also be live-streamed on Voot.

Who will perform at FIFA 2022 Opening ceremony?

While FIFA has yet to reveal the full lineup of performers, South Korean boy band BTS’s Jungkook has confirmed that he will perform ‘Dreamers’ at the ceremony. When the tournament begins, the ‘Butter’ hitmaker will be joined by former ‘Take That’ star Robbie Williams, as well as Craig David and Tini Tempah.
