Arjun Tendulkar, the 23-year-old son of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, took a giant step forward in his cricket career when he smashed a maiden First-Class century in his Ranji Trophy debut.

Arjun, who batted on 4 after returning from No. 7, added a 200-run partnership with fellow centurion Suyash Prabhudesai. Goa had scored 410 runs after 140 overs, with Arjun batting on 112 and hitting 15 fours and two sixes. Arjun, who previously played white-ball cricket for Mumbai, relocated to Goa earlier this year in order to pursue new opportunities.

In 2018, Arjun made his Under-19 debut for India against Sri Lanka, appearing in two unofficial Tests. Arjun, a bowling all-rounder, has been with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL but has yet to play. He was selected in the IPL 2021 auction but was unable to play due to injury. MI, on the other hand, did not lose faith in Arjun and repurchased him at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

He did, however, appear in two matches for Mumbai in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, taking two wickets against Manipur. Arjun expressed his desire to change states in August, and the transition was completed in October. Yograj Singh, the father of former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, had trained Arjun, and a video of the two celebrating after a practise session went viral.

Arjun played for India’s under-19 team before joining the Indian Premier League’s Mumbai Indians, where he never made an appearance.

This season, he relocated from Mumbai to Goa. His father, Sachin Tendulkar who retired in 2013 after scoring 100 centuries, is still revered as a god in cricket-crazy India.

Tendulkar became the first Indian batter to score a century on his Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Deodhar Trophy debuts in 1988. Tendulkar was 15 when he hit an unbeaten century against Gujarat on December 11, and he finished the season as Mumbai’s (formerly Bombay) leading run-scorer, with 583 runs at an average of 67.77, ranking eighth overall. He also had an unbeaten century against Delhi in the Irani Trophy that year.
