World Children’s Day is being observed on November 20, 2022, and was first observed in 1954 to promote international cooperation and improve the welfare of children. This date is significant in history because it was on this date in 1959 that the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. On the same day in 1989, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
World Children’s Day is also dedicated to raising awareness of the issues that children face around the world and providing them with the future they deserve. On this World Children’s Day, remember to celebrate not only the children around you but also the child within you.
Children and young people experience discrimination in places they should be safe.
