At least 15 workers are believed to be trapped beneath the rubble. The district administration is on the way.

The majority of those missing are from Bihar and work for the construction company ABCI Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd in Maudarh, Hnahthial district. However, reports indicate that clearing the debris will take time.

The State Disaster Response Force, Border Security Force, and Assam Rifles have all been called in to help with search and rescue efforts.

Workers in West Bengal were buried under rubble earlier this year after a stone quarry collapsed on March 4 while they were working in the White Stone Hill caves.

The slope specifically collapsed while the miners were inside the cave, and large chunks of white stone fell down the hill, colliding with dump trucks and cars and causing them to collapse.

At the scene, rescue efforts are underway. Volunteers from the town of Leite arrived on the scene to help with the rescue. According to media reports citing government sources, the state government has dispatched additional rescue teams to the scene.

Young Mizo Association (YMA) volunteers from nearby villages also rushed to the scene to help with the rescue, they said.

Maudarh is a small hamlet about 23 kilometers from Hnahthial.

The company collects stones or boulders from the quarry as it builds a highway between Hnahthial and Dawn village.
