Environment Activist of Manipur, Licypriya Kangujam, Expressed Concern Ahead of Diwali

In the live Facebook video, A young activist from Manipur, Licypriya Kangujam, was discussing the environment ahead of Diwali. The phone of environmental activist Licypriya Kangujam, 11, was stolen in Greater Noida’s Sector 16B on Sunday while she was going live on Facebook. DCP Central Noida responded to her tweet, saying, “Police station in-charge Bisrakh has been directed to take necessary action…FIR has been registered at police station Bisrakh, required legal action is being taken in advance.”

She took to twitter to complain about the incident “Hello @noidapolice ! It’s very urgent. My mobile phone was just snatched away (10 minutes ago) by two bike borne thieves while I was going live on my facebook in front of the Bellana Street market, Greater Noida, Sector 16B opposite Nirala Aspire. Kindly help me!”

Licypriya Kangujam is an Indian indigenous climate activist. She spoke at the United Nations Climate Conference (COP25) in 2019 at the age of nine, and she has travelled around the world to speak at climate and international conferences. Kangujam has been honoured for her support of clean air initiatives as well as her protests against the Indian government.

In July 2018, Licypriya began advocating against climate change. Licypriya began spending a week outside the Indian parliament House on June 21, 2019, inspired by climate activist Greta Thunberg, to draw Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attention to the need to pass a climate change law in India. Mr.Charles Allen, Director of Partnerships of Global Peace Index – Institute of Economics & Peace (IEP), Australia presented Licypriya with the “World Children Peace Prize 2019” on August 31, 2019, at an event organised by the Regional Alliance of Fostering Youth and the Ministry of Youth Sports and Community Empowerment.

On the other hand, in 2021, Licipriya Kangujam’s father, Kangujam Karnajit Singh, alias KK Singh, was arrested on charges of fraud, assault, and criminal breach of trust.

The Manipur Police Department was investigating KK Singh’s fraud. He was charged with criminal breach of trust under sections 406, 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 34. (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
