A devastating cloudburst struck North Sikkim which triggered a flash flood in the river Teesta in Sikkim’s Lachen valley on Tuesday night and left 23 Army personnel missing.
The cloudburst occurred upstream of Chungthang in the Mangan district, resulting in a sudden and alarming rise in the water level of the Teesta River.

According to the report, torrential floodwaters swept away Army vehicles parked at Bardang near Singtam, and some Army establishment along the valley has been effected.
23 Army personnelhave been reported missing and some vehicles are reported submerge under the slush. Search operation are underway.
