On the other hand, Arunachal Pradesh is known for having some of the country’s most rough terrain. The mountains, combined with incredibly quickly changing weather patterns, cause a large number of air malfunctions and fatalities. The most recent casualty is a young Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army.

On board were two pilots, Lt. Colonel Sourav Yadav and Major Mriddhul Agrawal.

Lt.Col Yadav died as a result of his injuries, and Major Agarwal was reportedly admitted to the Military Hospital in Lungla.

According to Defence PRO Lt. Colonel AS Walia, the cause of the crash is unknown at this time.

The same circumstances led to the death of former Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu in April 2011. He was the father of current Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Arunachal Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu was discovered dead in Luguthang, near the China border, five days after his helicopter went missing. Mr. Khandu boarded a Pawan Hans helicopter in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, on April 30, 2011.
