World AIDS Day 2022: Every year on December 1, the world observes World AIDS Day. It is held to honor AIDS patients as well as to show support for those who are HIV-positive. World AIDS Day was established in 1988 as the first international health day. This day also serves as a call to action for people worldwide to band together in order to close the gaps and disparities that limit HIV testing, prevention, and access to care.

A large number of lives are at risk as a result of the recent halt in HIV objective progress and resource depletion. HIV became and continues to be a global health epidemic as a result of a number of flaws, including division, inequality, and a disregard for human rights.
Four decades into the HIV response, inequalities persist for the most basic services like testing, treatment, and condoms, and even more so for new technologies.
In the lead up to #WorldAIDSDay, let’s unite to end the inequalities holding back the end of AIDS.
Let’s #Equalize!

World AIDS Day 2022: Theme, history, significance and more
Disparities that fuel the AIDS pandemic can be addressed; they are not unavoidable. On this World AIDS Day, December 1, UNAIDS is calling on everyone to confront the injustices that are impeding the fight to end AIDS.
The theme “Equalize” is a rallying cry. It is a rallying cry for all of us to pursue the tried-and-true methods needed to close gaps and aid in the eradication of AIDS. These are as follows:
Increase the availability, quality, and acceptability of HIV treatment, testing, and prevention services to ensure that everyone is well served.
World AIDS Day 2022: History
The concept of World AIDS Day was first proposed in 1987. This day is observed to encourage local and state governments, international organizations, and private citizens to communicate about AIDS and HIV. It was devised by James W. Bunn and Thomas Netter, two public information officers at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. Since 1996, UNAIDS (the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS) has coordinated and promoted it. The following day, on November 30, 2017, President Donald Trump declared December 1 as World Aids Day.
World AIDS Day 2022: Theme
This year’s World AIDS Day theme is “Equalize.” It implies that everyone should try to put an end to the injustices that, according to UNAIDS, are impeding the effort to eradicate AIDS. This year’s topic is the most recent in a long line of concerns.
