Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, arrived in the United Kingdom on Wednesday to give a lecture at Cambridge University. The Gandhi scion appears to have had a makeover in preparation for his trip to the United Kingdom. He had trimmed his now-famous beard, which he had grown out for the duration of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, and even gotten a haircut.

The Congress leader arrived in London on Tuesday for a week-long tour that includes a student-only lecture at his alma mater, the University of Cambridge.

Rahul Gandhi, a Visiting Fellow of the Cambridge Judge Business School (Cambridge JBS), will speak on the subject “Learning to Listen in the 21st Century”.

Rahul Gandhi stated that the idea for Bharat Jodo arose because he found it difficult to reach out to the people as the opposition party in an environment where the media and the democratic architecture are under attack. “As the yatra took an emotional turn, people who came to meet us during Bharat Jodo began sharing personal accounts with us,” Rahul Gandhi said.

The Wayanad MP is in England for a week and will meet with the Indian diaspora in London on March 5. In London, he will also meet with members of the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC). The IOC is the Congress party’s international wing.

According to party sources, Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to meet with members of the business community.
