Odisha Health Minister Naba Das Shot By Policeman: Naba Kishore Das, Odisha’s health and family welfare minister was shot at on Sunday in Jharsuguda district. According to those familiar with the situation, his condition is critical.

The incident occurred in Brajrajnagar, Jharsuguda district, while the minister was on his way to a programme at Gandhi Chowk, according to news agency ANI.


On Sunday, Odisha Health Minister Naba Das was shot at near Gandhi Chowk near Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district by an assistant sub-inspector. He was on his way to a programme when he was shot and suffered bullet wounds to his chest. The officer fired two shots, critically injuring the minister, who was rushed to the hospital. According to witnesses, he was later airlifted to Bhubaneswar.

“Gopal Das, an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI), opened fire on the minister. The minister has been injured and is being taken to the hospital “Gupteswar Bhoi, Sub-Divisional Police Officer in Brajrajnagar, told reporters.

According to witnesses, he was shot just as he stepped out of his vehicle. The motives for the attack are still unknown.


Videos taken at the scene showed a bloodied Mr Das being carried to a car.

Naba Das was the special guest at the opening of a public grievance office. A crowd had gathered to greet him when he arrived. A gunshot was heard unexpectedly. “We saw a police officer fleeing after being shot from close range,” a witness said.
