Gujarat Elections 2022: According to party officials, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal will announce the name of the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the Gujarat Assembly elections next month today.

Mr Kejriwal is scheduled to hold a press conference in Ahmedabad on Friday to announce the name, according to a statement released by the party on Thursday.

Last week, Mr Kejriwal urged people to contact the party via SMS, WhatsApp, voice mail, and e-mail to express their opinions on who should be the party’s Chief Minister candidate in the state, which is currently ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He had stated that people could submit their opinions until November 3 evening and that the name of the party’s chief ministerial face would be announced the following day based on their votes.

Mr Kejriwal had also stated at the time, “During the Punjab elections, we polled the public to determine who should be the next chief minister. The vast majority of people named Bhagwant Mann. And, in response to public demand, we appointed him as Prime Minister.” The AAP announced its ninth list of ten candidates for the Gujarat elections on Thursday, bringing the total number of candidates whose names have been announced to 118.

The Election Commission of India announced on Thursday that the Gujarat elections will be held in two phases, on December 1 and 5, with voting taking place on December 8. Voting will take place on December 8.

Voting for 89 of Gujarat’s 182 assembly seats will take place on December 1 and the remaining 93 seats on December 5.

Gujarat has a 182-member assembly, and the BJP won 99 seats in the last elections, its sixth consecutive victory, while the Congress put up a valiant fight, taking 77 seats.
