Medical courses in Uttarakhand will be taught in Hindi (along with English) beginning with the next academic session, according to State Medical Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat.

When implemented, Uttarakhand will be the second state after Madhya Pradesh to do so. Mr. Rawat said on Friday that the decision was made because the Centre places a high value on Hindi.

In this regard, the state’s Medical Education Department has formed a four-member expert committee. The panel will be led by Dr. CMS Rawat, principal of the Government Medical College in Srinagar’s Pauri district, according to the minister.

According to the minister, the committee will prepare a draught of a new syllabus for colleges after studying the MBBS Hindi syllabus in Madhya Pradesh government colleges.

The MBBS course in Hindi will begin in the next academic session after the panel’s draught is received and formalities are completed, according to the minister.

On October 16, Union Home Minister Amit Shah released textbooks in Hindi for three subjects for MBBS students as part of the Madhya Pradesh government’s ambitious project to provide medical education in Hindi.

For the past 232 days, a team of 97 experts has been working on book preparation at Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. They’ve been working on translating the book from English to Hindi.

According to experts, the new edition of Medical Biochemistry incorporates new chapters on Sodium, Potassium, Water Homeostasis, Biochemistry Techniques, Radiation, Radioisotopes, and Environmental Pollutants and Toxins.

Similarly, new surface anatomy chapters have been added in both the abdomen and lower limb sections of the Anatomy edition. To improve knowledge retention, new line diagrams, CT and MRI diagram tables, and flow charts are added.
