Karnataka: In Karnataka, a feud between IPS officer D Roopa and IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri erupted Monday after Roopa accused Sindhuri of sharing “nude, naked pics” with the IAS officer, threatening legal action.

A public bickering between two senior female officers has shocked many in the Karnataka administration, leaving the Basavaraj Bommai government speechless.

State Home Minister Araga Jnanendra issued a warning today, enraged by what he called the “bad behaviour” of two officers.

D Roopa Moudgil, an IPS (Indian Police Service) officer, shared private photos of Rohini Sindhuri, an IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer, on social media on Sunday. She claimed Rohini Sindhuri broke service rules by sending her photos to male IAS officers.

D Roopa shared the photos on her Facebook page, alleging that Ms Sindhuri shared them with three IAS officers in 2021 and 2022.

D Roopa had issued a long list of corruption allegations against Ms Sindhuri the day before. She claimed she had also approached Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma with her concerns.

Ms Sindhuri, enraged, issued a statement on Sunday accusing D Roopa of waging a “false, personal vilification campaign” against her and threatening legal action.

“She gathered social media photos and screenshots of (my) WhatsApp status to defame me. I urge her to reveal the names of the officials she claims I sent these pictures to “Ms Sindhuri explained.

“Mental illness is a major issue that must be addressed through medication and counselling. It becomes even more dangerous when it affects people in positions of authority. Roopa IPS has been running false, personal vilification campaigns against me, as is her custom “She claimed.

The Karnataka Home Minister stated that he had discussed the incident with the police commissioner, and that the Chief Minister was also aware of it.
