The Delhi government ordered the closure of all primary schools in the national capital on Friday, citing “hazardous” air quality. Secondary and upper secondary schools will remain open, but no outdoor activities will be permitted.

Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Ministers of Delhi and Punjab, respectively, addressed the press and accepted responsibility for the excessive stubble burning that has resulted in a drop in air quality over the last few days. They did, however, add that air pollution was not limited to Delhi or Punjab, but was a “North India problem.”

“The AAP governments in Delhi and Punjab are not entirely to blame.” “This is not the time to play blame,” Kejriwal said.

“We will try for crop diversification… we will try to move our farmers from rice to other crops in Punjab,” say AAP Chief & Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal & Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann in a joint press conference over rising pollution in Delhi

All primary schools have been shut in the National Capital from tomorrow onwards, CM Kejriwal announced during the press conference.

Air pollution in Delhi-NCR continues to worsen as a result of unfavourable meteorological conditions such as slower wind speeds and an increase in farm fire incidents. On Friday morning, a thick layer of haze blanketed the Delhi sky, and the national capital was suffering from’severe plus’ air quality, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 472. The AQI near ITI Jahangirpuri was 550 at 7 a.m., followed by 562 in Noida (UP), 539 in Gurugram (Haryana), and 563 near Delhi University.
