World Green City Award 2022: Hyderabad Beats Paris To Bag The Award

World Green City Award 2022: According to an official release, Hyderabad is the only Indian city that was chosen, and it is a source of pride for Telangana and India that it has won not only the category award but also the overall ‘World Green City 2022’ award, the best across all six categories.

Telangana’s Hyderabad won the overall ‘World Green City Award 2022’ and the ‘Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth’ award at the International Association of Horticulture Producers (AIPH) World Green City Awards 2022 on Friday in Jeju, South Korea.

Hyderabad was chosen as the grand winner over cities such as Paris, Mexico City, Montreal, Fortaleza, and Bogota. It not only won the category award, but also the overall ‘World Green City 2022’ award, which means it was the best in all six categories.

 

The greening of the Outer Ring Road was submitted as Hyderabad’s entry in the category ‘Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth,’ according to a press release. The category focuses on developing systems and solutions that enable all city residents to overcome economic distress and thrive, and the ORR greenery dubbed the “Green Necklace to the State of Telangana” was named the winner.”

 

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was overjoyed that the city had received the prestigious “International Association of Horticulture Producers” (AIPH) awards. He stated that the international awards have enhanced Telangana’s and the country’s reputation. “These international awards demonstrate that the state government is aggressively implementing the Haritaharam and urban development programmes… yielding green fruits for the country,” he said in a statement.
