The Indian embassy in Ukraine warned its citizens against traveling to the war-torn country on Wednesday, citing the deteriorating security situation and recent exacerbation of warfare.
“In view of the deteriorating security situation and the recent escalation of hostilities across Ukraine,” the Indian Embassy in Kyiv said in a statement.
“Indian citizens, including students, who are currently in Ukraine are advised to leave Ukraine as soon as possible using available means,” the statement said.

According to Ukrainian officials, Russian shelling killed at least six civilians and injured 16 in the previous 24 hours.
According to the Ukrainian president’s office, the Russian army used drones, rockets, and heavy artillery to attack nine southeastern regions of Ukraine. According to the report, the attacks were aimed at destroying energy facilities.
“Indian citizens, including students, in Ukraine, advised to leave Ukraine at earliest,” the embassy further said in its statement.
According to Russian legislation, martial law could entail, among other things, prohibiting public gatherings, imposing travel bans and curfews, and conducting censorship.
Putin ordered the mobilization of army reservists last month, after which Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kyiv, have been regularly bombed.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared martial law in the four regions of Ukraine that Moscow has illegally annexed and given the heads of Russian regions additional emergency powers.
Putin did not immediately specify the steps that would be taken under martial law on Wednesday, but legislation suggests that they may include restrictions on travel and public gatherings, tighter censorship, and broader authority for law enforcement agencies.
