Texas Crash: According to US authorities, at least six people died when two World War II-era planes collided at a Dallas air show, with social media footage showing the planes colliding and exploding on the ground. Emergency crews rushed to the crash site at Dallas Executive Airport, which is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) from downtown Dallas. Video footage from the scene showed the planes’ crumpled wreckage in a grassy area inside the airport’s perimeter. According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, there were no reported injuries among those on the ground during Texas Crash.

The collision at the Wings Over Dallas air show involved a World War II Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a Bell P-63 Kingcobra.

The Allied Pilots Association, which represents American Airlines pilots, announced on Twitter that two of its former members were among those killed in the crash. Terry Barker and Len Root were identified by the association.

An air show is a public event where planes are displayed. Aerobatic demonstrations are frequently included; otherwise, they are referred to as “static air shows” with aircraft parking area on the ground. According to the event’s website, Wings Over Dallas bills as its “America’s Premier World War II Airshow.” The show was set to take place on Veterans Day weekend, November 11-13, and guests were expected to see more than 40 World War II-era aircraft. The “bomber parade” and “fighter escorts” featuring the B-17 and P-63 were among the flying demonstrations on Saturday afternoon.
