Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, has been reinstated on Twitter. Elon Musk, the new CEO of the social media platform, provided an update following a poll. Musk wrote in a tweet, “The people have spoken. “Trump will be re-elected.” He also used the Latin phrase “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” which translates as “the voice of the people is God’s voice.” The account of the former US president was said to have reappeared shortly after Musk’s post.

Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, launched a poll on Saturday, asking, “Reinstate former President Trump?” The results showed a narrow margin between those who supported his return to the microblogging site and those who opposed it. 51.8 percent of users wanted the former US president to return to Twitter. This comes just days after Trump declared his candidacy for president in 2024. Following the Capitol Hill riots in 2021, his Twitter account was banned “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.” A similar action was taken with regard to his Facebook page.

Finally, more than 15 million people voted on whether to reinstate the controversial profile, out of 237 million daily Twitter users, with 51.8 percent in favor and 48.2 percent opposed.

Trump, who had over 88 million followers when his account was suspended, relished using Twitter as a mouthpiece during his presidency, posting policy announcements, attacking political opponents, and communicating with supporters.

Trump has stated that he will not return to the popular platform, but will instead focus on his own network, Truth Social, which he founded after being banned from Twitter.

Netizens flooded the microblogging platform with memes shortly after former US President Donald Trump’s Twitter account was restored.

Twitter also saw a meltdown from the cabal of left-liberals in charge of the vicious campaign to censor Trump.
