On October 16, 2022, World Anaesthesia Day will honor the expertise that anaesthesiologists and the wider anesthesia community bring to improve medication safety practices and reduce medication errors.  World Anesthesia Day 2022: This is the day when patients will be able to undergo surgical procedures without experiencing physical pain.

The World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists encourages people all over the world to recognize the role and expertise of anaesthesiologists in patient care. WFSA also wishes to raise global awareness about people all over the world who do not have access to safe anaesthesia practices.

Important things you need to know about World Anesthesia Day:

The theme for World Anesthesia Day this year is “Medication Safety.” The World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists is asking everyone around the world to join them on October 16 to honour anaesthesiologists’ leadership and expertise by bringing medication safety to social media.

“To be part of our global social media wall, snap a photo in our World Anesthesia Day photo booth and share it on social media with your hashtag Med Safe tips and approaches,” according to the WFSA official website. To join the community, include hashtags like WAD2022, World Anaesthesia Day (or World Anesthesia Day), and Med Safe.”

History of World Anesthesia Day:

World Anesthesia Day commemorates the first demonstration of the use of anaesthesia on October 16, 1846. Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital used ether on a patient for the first time. This was a watershed moment in the history of surgery.

There have been numerous breakthroughs in the 170 years since that first anaesthetic procedure, but nearly 5 billion people still lack access to safe anaesthesia practises, according to the WFSA official website.

World Anesthesia Day: Significance

It is also a day to recognise anesthesiologists worldwide for their efforts and the role they play in patient care. On World Anesthesia Day, several campaigns are held around the world to address issues that are still prevalent in the medical field.
