With Diwali only a week away, health officials have issued a warning because the covid variants BA.7 and BA.5.1.7 are said to be highly infectious and highly transmissible.
The Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center, according to reports, discovered this new Omicron variant. After emerging from a region of Mongolia in China, Omicron sub-variants BA.5.1.7 and BF.7 are now spreading and posing new threats.

Because the five-day Diwali festival involves a lot of parties and get-togethers, health experts have advised taking extra precautions. The primary defense against the lethal virus remains social distancing and masking up.

According to two studies, BF.7 can outrun antibodies from previous illnesses or vaccinations better than many other omicron sub-variants.

According to official data, Delhi is seeing an increase in Covid-19 cases, with the test positivity rate exceeding 2%.
Despite the fact that no deaths have been reported in the last two days, Delhi has seen 135 new cases of Covid-19. The city saw 112 cases last week, with a test positivity rate of 1.75 percent, and 130 cases on Saturday, with a positivity rate of 1.84 percent.

Is the new Omicron variant dangerous?

Experts have expressed concern about the rate of transmission of the new variant, which preliminary evidence suggests can penetrate the layer of vaccine immunity.

Omicron BF.7 Symptoms:

The symptoms of Omicron BF.7 are the same as those of all other variants, but experts believe that body pains are much more painful.

  • Congestion
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue and tiredness
  • Cough and cold
  • Runny nose
  • High fever

According to recent reports, the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre has discovered the first case of BF.7 in India. With the emergence of these new sub-variants that can outperform immunity from previous infections and vaccines, it is critical to take precautions ahead of the upcoming Diwali, Dhanteras, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj celebrations.

With lockdowns and restrictions easing, Indians are eagerly anticipating one of the country’s most important festivals, Diwali, after nearly two years of keeping it all under wraps. Experts warn, however, that wearing masks and taking responsibility for isolating oneself at the first sign of symptoms could protect vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, cancer survivors, cancer patients, and transplant patients, among others.
