Guwahati: On Monday evening, a fire broke out in a building on the campus of Gauhati Medical College Hospital in the city.

According to reports, the fire started on the first floor of the old building complex, at the pathology unit.

Dr. Abhijit Sarma, Superintendent of GMCH, stated that no patients were injured in the incident.
No patients were injured because they were evacuated as soon as the fire started. The fire is thought to have been started by a short circuit in one of the machines. “The precise cause is being investigated,” GMCH Superintendent Dr. Abhijit Sarma said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire before it spread further.
