Cirkus Movie Review: Cirkus is based on a comedy of errors, but it doesn’t take long for it to become a comedy full of errors! Rohit has proven in recent films that he is most fond of two things: screwball comedy and big action scenes. Shetty’s over-the-top loud yet entertaining cop universe with Singham – Suryavanshi and Simmba has carved a niche for himself.

His test begins when he steps outside of his comfort zone and tries something new. He departs from the RCU (Rohit Cop Universe) with Cirkus and returns to his other successful franchise, the Golmaal series.

Cirkus is the story of twins Roy (Ranveer Singh) and Joy (Varun Sharma), who are participants in an experiment they are unaware of. You know what to expect when Shetty drops phrases like ‘kudrat ka karishma’ in the first 20 minutes. A plot based on the blunder of a twins mix-up is nothing new. As a result, Shetty adds a slew of gimmicks and a slew of supporting characters to make the premise appear fresh.

Shetty’s film, set in the 1960s, manages to incorporate a lot of movie nostalgia. When you hear Kishore Kumar’s Chalti ka naam gaadi or see a poster of Johnny Mera Naam, you know the director is almost paying homage to his favourite films. Rohit Shetty has found his ideal muse in Ranveer Singh. Singh’s ability to pull off physical comedy or say the coolest lines with a straight face is comparable to his social media reels.

Cirkus works best when its supporting cast is allowed to shine. Shetty devotes as much time as he can to making the characters of Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever, and Mukesh Tiwari as enjoyable as his protagonist.

The Ranveer Singh film did not benefit much from advance bookings, but it could earn in the double digits from spot bookings.
