Akshay Kumar will make his Marathi debut in Mahesh Manjrekar’s next film, Shivaji. In the film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat, the actor will portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film, directed by Vaseem Qureshi, is based on the true story of seven valiant warriors who dedicated their lives to realizing Shivaji Maharaj’s dream of Swarajya and writing one of history’s most glorious pages.
In addition to Akshay Kumar and Mahesh Manjrekar, state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s Raj Thackeray attended the event on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and MNS chief Raj Thackeray attended a mahurat shot event for the film in Mumbai. The announcement comes just days after the release of Ram Setu, Akshay’s fifth film of the year. In the film, he plays an archaeologist on a mission to save an ancient structure.
Akshay said at the event about his Marathi debut, “It’s a dream role come true for me. I believe it is a huge responsibility to portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the big screen. When Raj sir asked me to play this role, I was taken aback. I’m thrilled to be playing this role, which will be a dream come true for me. In addition, I will be working with director Mahesh Manjrekar for the first time, which will be an exciting experience.”
Vaseem Qureshi’s Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat is set to be released in theatres on Diwali 2023. The film will be available in four regional languages: Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
