The placement season at IIT Guwahati has begun, and the institute has seen a 21% increase in pre-placement offers this academic year. The highest package recorded this year is Rs 1.20 crore, which is the highest pre-placement offer for IIT Guwahati to date.
In total, over 218 offers have been received this year, compared to 179 offers received during the entire 2021-22 period.
The Guwahati campus has seen an increase in the hiring trend for technical roles, with more companies making internship offers. This year, the Institute received the highest Pre-Placement Offer of Rs 1.20 crore, up from Rs 56 lakh last year.

TG Sitharam, director of IIT-Guwahati, expressed his delight at the significant increase in pre-placement offers this year. “The pre-placement offers made this year demonstrate that students’ hard work has paid off well,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.
According to an official statement, the strong internship program is the driving force behind this performance.

The strong internship program and pre-placement talks organized by IIT Guwahati’s Centre for Career Development for students are the primary reasons for the sharp increase in PPOs.
Excellent student performance and excellent mentorship during these sessions are also significant contributors.
Accenture, Adobe, Amazon, Axtria, Axxela, Bajaj Auto Ltd, Barclays, BNY Mellon, Cisco, Citrix R&D, DeShaw, DevRev, Flipkart, Fractal Analytics, GE Health Care, Goldman Sachs, Google, IBM, JPMorgan, and Jaguar Land Rover India Limited, among others, created PPOs.
According to Dr. Abhishek Kumar, Head, Centre for Career Development, IIT Guwahati, major companies have begun to show more interest in recruiting candidates through PPO mode, which has been on the rise in recent years. He stated that the institute organised webinars to assist students in learning about the fields. “In addition, we collaborated with technical clubs to help students access relevant study/course material for specific profiles, which resulted in an increase in PPOs this year,” he added.
