Himachal Pradesh election results: On Thursday, the counting of votes for the Himachal Pradesh election 2022 result began. The BJP and Congress are the main contenders in the HP election 2022. The hilly state has 68 seats, with 35 being the halfway point. In the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, Congress surpassed the BJP. The grand old party has won 40 of the 68 seats available. With the Congress on track to defeat the BJP and reclaim power in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur conceded defeat, saying he respected the people’s verdict. He stated that he would be going to the governor’s office soon to hand in his resignation.

Meanwhile, the Congress has begun to relocate its winning MLAs to Chandigarh, where they are expected to meet to discuss their next steps, according to sources. The Congress party currently holds a 40-seat majority, well beyond the Assembly’s 68-seat limit. Meanwhile, the BJP leads in 26 seats. Independent candidates 1 are leading in five seats and could play a critical role in the formation of a government. Bhupinder Baghel, Bhupinder Hooda, and Rajiv Shukla, leaders of the Congress party, are on their way to the hill state.

In nearly four decades, Himachal Pradesh has not returned an incumbent government to power. And, for Congress, the victory in Himachal is critical to its revival, as the party has suffered a string of electoral defeats in recent years.

With the Congress winning the Himachal Pradesh elections, party leaders credited party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s campaign in the hill state for the party’s strong showing in the assembly elections on Thursday.

Priyanka Gandhi led the party’s charge in Himachal Pradesh, holding several rallies and being closely involved in election strategy planning. Many leaders praised her for leading the party to victory and defeating the BJP’s election machinery.
