Gujarat Election Date 2022 Phase 1: On December 1, the first phase of the Gujarat assembly elections take place on 89 assembly seats (Thursday). The state, which has traditionally seen a bipolar contest between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, now has a third player in the form of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has fielded candidates for 181 of the Assembly’s total 182 seats.

According to the source, as many as 330 of the 1,621 candidates running in the Gujarat assembly elections next month have criminal cases filed against them.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leads the pack with 61 candidates.

In the 2017 Gujarat assembly elections, there were 238 candidates with criminal records.

According to a report released on Monday by the ADR following a survey of candidates from both phases, 60 candidates from the Congress and 32 candidates from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have criminal cases filed against them.

According to the ADR report, 192 candidates have been booked for serious offences related to murder, rape, and attempted murder, including 96 from the Congress, BJP, and AAP, citing an analysis of the affidavits of all 1,621 contestants in the two-phase polls scheduled for December 1 and 5.

In the first phase of the Gujarat assembly elections, 2,39,76,670 voters will exercise their right to vote for their representatives.

There are 788 candidates in total, representing 39 political parties and independent candidates.

25,430 polling places, 16,416 of which are in rural areas and 9,014 in urban areas.

A total of 1,06,963 election workers will be on the job, including 79,985 poll workers and 27,978 presiding officers.

For the next 36 hours, party candidates and Independents will campaign aggressively door to door and via social media.

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Tapi had the highest voter turnout (26.47%), while Devbhumi Dwaraka had the lowest voter turnout (15.86%).

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is running from Ghatlodia, AAP Chief Ministerial candidate Isudan Gadhvi is running from Khambhaliya, former Congress leader and BJP candidate Hardik Patel is running from Viramgam, and former Congress leader and now BJP candidate Alpesh Thakor is running from Gandhinagar South.
