FIFA World Cup: Head coach Thomas Dennerby named a 21-member Indian squad for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which begins on October 11 in India.

Seven players from the Northeast state of Manipur have been named to India’s squad for the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup.

Monalisha Devi Moirangthem, Melody Chanu Keisham, Shilky Devi Hemam, Babina Devi Lisham, Lynda Kom Serto, Rejiya Devi Laishram, and Shelia Devi Loktongbam are the seven Manipur players who have made the Indian women’s FIFA world cup team.

India has been placed in Group A with the United States, Morocco, and Brazil. They will play the United States on October 11, followed by Morocco and Brazil on October 14 and 17, respectively, at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

“Everyone is in a new situation. India has never competed in the World Cup. This is an entirely different ballgame. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show everyone that we have prepared well and will not be run over,” Dennerby said.

India squad for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 :

Goalkeepers : Monalisha Devi Moirangthem, Melody Chanu Keisham, Anjali Munda.

Defenders : Astam Oraon, Kajal, Naketa, Purnima Kumari, Varshika, Shilky Devi Hemam.

Midfielders : Babina Devi Lisham, Nitu Linda, Shailja, Shubhangi Singh.

Forwards : Anita Kumari, Lynda Kom Serto, Neha, Rejiya Devi Laishram, Shelia Devi Loktongbam, Kajol Hubert Dsouza, Lavanya Upadhyay, Sudha Ankita Tirkey.

Chile will take on New Zealand (Group B) at 4:30 p.m. on 11 October at Fatorda Stadium, while Brazil will face Morocco in Group A.

The Group A match will be of particular interest to India because it is in the same group as the United States. The India U-17 squad, making their debut at the event, will have little time to get a feel for the game because they will face the USA at the same venue immediately after the Brazil-Morocco match concludes.

Brazil and the United States have been among the leading nations in women’s football, but they have yet to win the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup.
