Veteran Actor Nipon Goswami is no more. Goswami has been admitted to Nemcare Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he was being monitored.According to reports, the veteran actor has been suffering from heart problems for some time. However, when his condition suddenly deteriorated, he was rushed to the hospital.

Nipon Goswami, a well-known actress and popular actor, died on Thursday at the age of 80 at The Namecare Hospital in Guwahati.

Born in Tezpur, the actor made his acting debut as a child artist in the 1957 Assamese feature film ‘Pioli Phukan,’ directed by Phani Sarma.

Earlier this year, the actor was admitted to the GNRC Hospital in Guwahati after slipping on his bathroom floor and injuring himself.

Goswami has also appeared in Assamese films such as Shiraj, Deutar Biya, Priya O Priya, Kokadeutar Ghar Jowai, Aparupa, Sandhyaraag, Bohagor Duporiya, and Ghar Khankar.

He grew up watching performances at the Ban Theatre near his home, and that interest eventually led to him performing in plays. He has appeared in several mobile theatres, including Kohinoor, Hengul, and Abahan, and believes that they have aided his development as an actor.

 

After finishing his B.A., he travelled to Calcutta for an interview at the Pune Film Institute. He moved to Pune for acting classes in 1965. His classmates included Subhash Ghai, Navin Nischol, and Shatrughan Sinha, among others.

Sangram, his first Assamese film as a lead actor, was a box office success. His next film, Dr. Bezbaruah, which was released in 1969, established him as a star, and he went on to appear in numerous films over the next few years. He also appeared as a character actor in a few Hindi films.

He has been active in mobile theatres such as Abaahan, Kohinoor, Hengul, and Shakuntala. He also appeared in a few TV shows, including ‘Writu aahe writu jaai.’

On the other hand , Dr. Bezbaruah 2 is a forthcoming Indian Assamese-language film that is a sequel to Dr. Bezbarua, which was released 50 years ago. Dr. Bezbaruah 2 is directed by Assamese actor Nipon Goswami, who also starred in Dr. Bezbaruah.

A few days back in a recent program at Jyoti Chitraban in Guwahati, actor Jatin Bora announced his latest film, ‘Raghav.’ The veteran actor Nipon Goswami was also a part of the star cast.

His son, Siddhartha Goswami, is a software engineer who lives in Mumbai. However, he is very interested in films and may soon accept a few film offers. He did an excellent job in Mission China and has continued the family’s acting legacy. Kinkini, his wife, is also an artist and an actress.
