Sahitya Akademi award: Journalist-Author Manoj Kumar Goswami and 3 from Assam Receives The Award

Sahitya Akademi award: Manoj Kumar Goswami (মনোজ কুমাৰ গোস্বামী), a well-known author and journalist from Assam in North-Eastern India, has been chosen for this year’s Sahitya Akademi awards (সাহিত্য অকডেমি বঁটা). Goswami was honored for his book Bhool Satya.

Goswami received the prestigious Katha Award for Creative Fiction in 1994 and the Sanskriti Award for Literature in 1996.

‘The Vulture,’ Goswami’s popular short story, was included in the great writer, late Khushwant Singh’s ‘Our Favorite Indian Stories [2002]’.

Meanwhile, other recipients of the awards from Assam are the following:

  • Dr Juri Dutta for Translation for her book titled Kacharethi: Araya Nari.
  • Rashmi Choudhury (Boro poems book).


Manoj Kumar Goswami is the Chief Editor of the popular Assamese media house.

Goswami’s literary career began with short story collections such as Iswarhinata and Premhinata. He’s also the author of the well-known novel Anadi Aru Annyana.

 

On the other hand, Smt Jury Dutta , Shri Raja Devojit Basumatary and Shri Purna Kr Sarmah were also chosen for Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation 2022 in Assamese, Bodo & Nepali.

In 2021, Anuradha Sharma Pujari, editor of the Assamese daily ‘Sadin,’ has won the Sahitya Akademi Award for her novel ‘Yat Ekhon Aranya Asil’.
Sharma Pujari is a well-known Assamese journalist and author who has written a number of popular books. Among them are ‘Hriday Ek Bigyapan,’ ‘Nil Prajapati,’ ‘Mereng,’ ‘Kanchen,’ and others.
