Republic Day 2023: Ahom kingdom’s pride, Rang Ghar, Shiva Dol, will be part of the republic day parade in New Delhi on January 26 in a proud moment for the people of Assam.

On this Republic Day Parade, Assam Tableau will project Vir Lachit Barphukan on the boat and the Maa Kamakhya Temple.

In New Delhi, artisans from the state are putting the finishing touches on the tableau. Tableaux from various states and ministries may take part in a parade rehearsal on January 24.

Assam’s Directorate of Cultural Affairs senior officials is camped out in New Delhi to ensure the success of the state tableau.

The state tableau depicting Vir Lachit’s valour is part of the 400th anniversary of the legendary Ahom commander’s birth.


The tableau also includes replicas of Rang Ghar and Shivadol. This tableau will bring Vir Lachit and Maa Kamakhya to the attention of the nation and the world.

The State Government celebrated the birth anniversary for three days in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in attendance.

The BSF’s first-ever female contingent, on the other hand, will ride camels alongside their male counterparts in 2023 as part of the renowned BSF Camel Contingent, which has taken part in Republic Day celebrations since 1976.

The Mahila Praharis’ outfits were designed by renowned designer Raghavendra Rathore and represent India’s numerous priceless craft traditions. They were created in various parts of the country and assembled in-house at the Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur studio.

During the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, colourful tableaus from Maharashtra, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gujarat, West Bengal, and several other states and Union Territories will roll down the revamped Kartavya Path, with ‘Nari Shakti’ being the theme for the majority of the floats.

The ceremonial parade will feature 23 tableaux — 17 from states and union territories and six from various ministries and departments — depicting India’s vibrant cultural heritage, economic and social progress, according to Defence Ministry officials on Sunday.
