Matri Pitri Vandana Scheme: Assam Govt Announces Special Casual Leave

For state government employees, the Assam government has announced Special Casual Leave under the Matri Pitri Vandana Scheme.

Casual leave will be granted on February 9 and 10, which can be used in conjunction with February 11 (second Saturday) and February 12. (Sunday).

Employees can apply for leave via the website https://matripitrivandana.assam.gov.in.

The notice read, “In the interest of public service, the Governor of Assam is pleased to allow the State Government employees to avail Special Casual Leave under Matri Pitri Vandana Scheme on 9th and 10th February, 2023. These leave can be utilized along with 11th February, 2023 (2nd Saturday) and 12th February, 2023 (Sunday) for Matri Pitri Vandana.”

What is Matri Pitri Vandana Scheme?

The Assam cabinet approved parental leave on the 6th and 7th of January this year in order to give state government employees enough time to spend quality time with their family members. The Assam Department of General Administration has created a new portal called “Matri Pitri Vandana” to provide online casual leave for Assam government employees.

During these days, an employee can go home and spend time with his or her parents or in-laws. However, these leaves cannot be used for any other purpose, and employees whose parents are no longer alive are not eligible to take this leave. According to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, all employees, from top civil servants to fourth grade, are eligible for the leave.
