The government is also working to beautify and turn the Lachit Barphukan’s maidan in Jorhat into a tourist attraction.
The program’s theme song, which was recently released, was composed by famous singer Zubin Garg. This theme song honours Lachit Barphukan’s bravery and sacrifice, as well as the significance of the Lachit Divas celebration.

The central programme of Lachit Barphukan’s 400th birth anniversary will be held in New Delhi from November 23 to 25. A documentary about the life of the Ahom commander will be released during the event.
Lachit Borphukan was a commander and Bophukan (councilor) in the Ahom Kingdom, which ruled present-day Assam for over 600 years while successfully resisting the Mughal Empire. Borphukan is best known for his leadership in the Battle of Saraighat in 1671, which prevented Mughal forces from invading the Ahom Kingdom. He died a year later as a result of illness.
