Ranjit Borah who owns a distributor of Purabi Dairy was shot dead in Guwahati on Monday by unidentified bike-borne assailants.

The incident occurred when Borah was about to deposit money in the ICICI Bank in Panjabari, Guwahati.

The incident exposed Guwahati’s poor security cover near Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. According to reports, Ranjit Borah came to the bank with a bag of money to deposit around Rs 2.50 lakh.

According to eyewitnesses, these miscreants on bikes engaged in a tug-of-war to snatch the money from Ranjit Bora. The miscreants fired a pistol at Ranjit Bora in order to steal the bag.

He was rushed to GMCH hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

In the morning Ranjit Bora arrived in the wagoner vehicle AS 01 BH 5022.

According to reports, the incident occurred while he was on his way to the bank to deposit money. Bora was treated at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

According to witnesses, some unknown miscreants opened fire on him.

Police arrived and collected CCTV footage from the scene. The footage was obtained by the police from a nearby business establishment’s CCTV system. It may be remembered that in the past, there have been several incidents in the city of miscreants snatching a woman’s neck chain while holding pistols.
