The Pan Bazaar Police arrested the former Directorate of Library Services, Assam, on Wednesday in connection with the massive library scam.
The Gauhati High Court denied accused Rumi Goswami’s application to extend her pre-arrest bail.
It should be noted that Rumi Goswami’s husband, Pranab Goswami, was arrested on November 26th. Rumi had eluded capture since his arrest.

Previously, the Gauhati High Court denied Goswami’s application for an extension of her pre-arrest bail.
She had applied to the Gauhati High Court for pre-arrest bail, fearing arrest in connection with Pan Bazaar Police Station case no. 263/2022, which had been registered for offences punishable under Sections 406/40 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
On the other hand, On December 15, Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora ordered an investigation into Haren Saikia on corruption charges.
Saikia is accused of demanding a bribe from a PM Kisan supporter.
Notably, the officer has been accused of soliciting bribes from beneficiaries of the PM Kisan Scheme.
