Elevated 38-kilometers-long corridor in Kaziranga National Park: Nitin Gadkari: Gadkari is on a three-day visit to the Northeastern States to review several projects overseen by his ministry.

According to the minister, the major projects in Assam include a 38-kilometer-long elevated corridor in Kaziranga National Park for Rs 6,000 crore, a ring road in Guwahati for Rs 4,500 crore, five ropeways for Rs 2,100 crore, and several highway flyovers and bridges over the Brahmaputra river.

“We plan to build 700 kilometers of road in Assam. Twenty projects worth Rs 14,000 crore are in the bidding stage, while projects worth Rs 25,000 crore are in the DPR (detailed project report) stage “He continued.

He also expressed his displeasure with the current pace of work.

Gadkari was visiting all of the Northeastern states, where senior officials and contractors were present, to review all of the National Highway Development Projects.

He threatened the contractors’ representatives.

These Projects are :

  • Guwahati Ring Road and Narangi-Kurua bridge
  • 38-km elevated Kaziranga corridor
  • Jorhat-Majuli bridge
  • 6-lane Khanapara-Jorabat road
  • Khanapara – LGBI Airport Ropeway

“Work or Quit the Work by Yourself,” Gadkari said.

He also ordered the company in charge of building the Jorhat-Majuli Bridge over the mighty Brahmaputra River to halt construction.

 

He directed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to appoint small construction companies from the state to build the bridge.

Nitin Gadkari arrived in Assam on Wednesday and was greeted with Assamese gamusa by CM Sarma.

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, announced on Wednesday during a press conference in Guwahati that his ministry had approved a slew of new road projects worth Rs 68,000 crore in four Northeastern states to provide international standard surface connectivity.
