Dipanka Nath resigned as president of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU). Dipanka Nath says he resigned for personal reasons. According to sources, he will join the political party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). The decision was made at the AASU state executive meeting in Guwahati. Utpal Sarma, Vice President, will take over as President.
This decision was made at a state executive meeting hosted by Guwahati University’s AASU head office and presided over by AASU members.
In the year 2020, Dipanka Kumar Nath, president of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), was re-elected, and Shankarjyoti Baruah was named general secretary of the students’ body.

The All Assam Students’ Union (Aasu), the state’s largest and most influential student body, has reformed to stay young by setting a membership age of 40 years and a retirement age of 42 years. All central committee members were also required to graduate. This decision was made on Friday night during the student body’s 17th general convention in Duliajan, Dibrugarh district.
