Dibrugarh University Ragging Case: A case of ragging has been reported in Assam’s Dibrugarh, where a student at Dibrugarh University jumped from his two-story hostel building to protect himself from alleged ragging by seniors.

On Sunday, November 27, a Dibrugarh University student named Anand Sharma jumped from the second floor of the hostel where he was staying to protect himself from alleged ragging by his seniors. The student was critically injured and was taken to a private hospital where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. The victim’s condition is still critical as of now. Police have detained three students in connection with the ragging incident.

Simanta Hazarika, Niranjan Thakur, and Pranjit Baruah, all residents of Padmanath Gohain Baruah Students’ Hostel, were identified as the three senior students detained in connection with the case.

After a shocking ragging incident at Dibrugarh University in which a student jumped from the hostel building, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to students to oppose ragging.

Assam Chief Minister tweeted on the microblogging site Twitter, “A Dibrugarh University student has been injured in an alleged case of ragging. A close eye was kept on things, and follow-up action was planned with the district administrator. Efforts are being made to apprehend the accused, and the victim is receiving medical treatment “.

 

The victim’s mother, Sarita Sharma, claimed that senior students were ragging on her son. “He told me that they haven’t let him sleep for four months… Food must be delivered to them (the seniors) at night. Their dirty utensils must be washed… he used to tell us all of this, but we used to tell him that it was also a life lesson. He used to request a transfer to a private hostel. But we can’t keep him in a private hostel and teach at the same time. We don’t have the resources. I never imagined this happening to my son “According to the victim’s mother.

It should be noted that a Dibrugarh University student allegedly jumped from the second floor of a university hostel building on Saturday night after becoming fed up with ragging by his seniors over the previous few days. The incident occurred on Sunday when a Dibrugarh University student, Anand Sharma, jumped from the second floor of the hostel where he was staying to escape alleged ragging by his seniors.
