Assam: Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), which recently threatened Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over allegations of abuse of pro-khalistani inmates in Dibrugarh jail, asked the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) to launch an independence movement on April 4.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, president of the SFJ, endorsed Assam’s independence from India in a letter to ULFA-I.
Pannu suggested that, taking a lead from the SFJ’s global Khalistani referendum for the Balkanisation of India, the ULFA-I hold an independence referendum on whether India-occupied Assam should be an independent country.
“Considering that the Assamese people have the right to self-determination under international law, valuing their commitment and sacrifices for the cause of free ore, and accounting for ULFA- l’s: dedication, strength, discipline, popularity, and organizational setup, ST would like to suggest that, on the lines of the Khalistan Referendum, General Paresh, you also announce to hold a Referendum on the question Should Indian Occupied Assam Be An Independent
The SFJ president stated that his organisation would support the Assam independence referendum and would provide all legal and logistical assistance to the ULFA-I, in addition to assisting in global campaigning for the cause and providing legal support in presenting the case before the United Nations.

It is worth noting that SFJ’s answer comes after the ULFA-reaction I’s to the latter’s threat to Assam CM.
Gurpatwan Singh Pannu of Sikh for Justice, a banned pro-Khalistani party, allegedly issued a threat call to Sarma on Sunday, stating that pro-Khalistanis were being tortured in Dibrugarh jail.
It is worth noting that SFJ‘s answer comes after the ULFA-reaction I’s to the latter’s threat to Assam CM.
The militant organization stated in the letter to the SFJ that the charges of torture of pro-khalistani inmates in Dibrugarh jail were regrettable and misconstrued.
