On Monday, the Assam Pavilion secured the second position for outstanding display in the ‘State Government and Union Territory’ category at the 42nd edition of IITF held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

The trade fair, commencing on November 14, concluded this Monday. With participation from 28 states, Union territories, 13 foreign countries, and major corporate entities, the mega trade fair was a significant event.

On the final day of the trade fair, Pradeep Singh Kharola, Chairman and Managing Director of India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), awarded the silver medal to Santanu Deuri, Director of the Assam Pavilion at IITF 2023.

Odisha secured the top position, and Rajasthan received the bronze medal. Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, were highlighted states, and Bihar and Kerala were specifically designated as partner states.

The Assam Pavilion, inaugurated on November 14 by Dr. Ravi Kota, Additional Chief Secretary of Industries and Commerce, Public Enterprises Department, showcased a variety of locally crafted products by women artisans and entrepreneurs.

This exhibition followed the theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – United by Trade,’ aligning with Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s vision to position Assam among the country’s top five states.

The Assam government showcased and promoted various initiatives during the fair, including One District One Product, the promotion of Geographical Indication (GI) products like Assam Lemon, Gamusa, Muga silk, traditional Assamese attire, Ease of Doing Business, and the Assam Start-Up program.

The pavilion attracted a significant number of visitors, including students from nearby educational institutions in Delhi. The event generated a sales turnover of approximately Rs. 52 lakh from locally crafted products.
