Assam Govt to provide Rs. 1000 every month to postgraduate students

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on November 30 that every girl student pursuing post-graduation will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 1000.

The Assam Chief Minister stated during the ceremonial distribution of scooters to meritorious students of the Higher Secondary Examination, 2022, under the Pragyan Bharti Scheme, “This time the state government is mulling to start a new scheme under which all girls students pursuing post-graduation like MA, MTech, Mcom, or MSc will be provided with Rs 1000.”

 

Sarma went on to say that students must pay for transportation to and from the university as well as tea or coffee, and that “the state government has taken this decision to give relief to their parents.”

Notably, the education department will launch a portal where all female postgraduate students can register their names in order to receive financial assistance.

Sarma also mentioned that in the coming years, the same facility will be available to students pursuing their graduation.

Later, he distributed scooters to students who finished first or higher in Veterinary Playground.

The ceremonial distribution of scooters for students achieving first division and above took place on November 30, 2022, at 2 PM in Khanapara’s Veterinary Playground.

The scooters were given to girl students who received first division and boy students who received 75% or higher in Higher Secondary Examination, 2022 from Kamrup(M) and Kamrup district under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme.

Benefits of Assam Pragyan Bharti Scooty Scheme:

First, the Assam government will provide free textbooks, uniforms, and other school-related supplies to all beneficiaries.

The Assam government has allocated Rs. 1,000 to 1 lakh students for textbooks.
Students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels will receive textbook incentives of Rs. 1500 and Rs. 2,000.

The Assam government will provide Rs. 1000 per month to all students to help with their mess dues.

A one-time education loan of Rs. 50,000 will be provided.
