Assam: Government School Teachers’Protest’ To Teach

A large number of teachers express their displeasure over the directives placed upon them by the department to participate in and organize activities relating to events and celebrations, taking a toll on their primary job of teaching the students.

A large number of teachers express their displeasure over the directives placed upon them by the department to participate in and organize activities relating to events and celebrations, taking a toll on their primary job of teaching the students.

It is to be noted that the education department of Assam has issued a series of notices directing school teachers to participate in and organize a flurry of activities relating to events and celebrations, even on Sundays and other holidays.

They have pointed out that within a period of one month , they are directed to engaged 20 days on Non Education activities.They were asked to organize events like National Sports Day from August 21 to 29, Veer Gatha activities by August 30, Kala Utsav by August 28, Online application in PM Shri by September 5, Amrit Briksha registration within August 25, Chandrayaan 3 soft landing on August 23, Swachhata Pakhwada observation from September 1 to 15, Aadhar link & Validation Udise+ on August 22 August, Ek Bharat Sresta Bharat activities on September 29,Amrit Briksha Andolon on September 17, Khel Maharan registration by September 25, Celebration of Poshan Maah on September 16, Swachhata Hi Sewa from September 13 to October 2, Meri Matti Meri desh/ Amrit Kalash Yatra on September 28, Promise Day of Tobacco free future on September 26, Student data for Gun Utsav.24 by September 28, Register in Mission prakriti for ICT teachers on September 25, Ek Taarikh Ek ghanta on 1st October, Non violent day observation on 2 October and Mental Health week from 4-10 October.

The schools were also directed to open on Sunday 1st October to observe Ek Taarikh Ek Ghata Ek Saath an initiative by PM Modi to carry out cleanliness drive for one hour stating from 10 A.M.

Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 which usually remained closed have also asked to remained open by the department to celebrate World Non violence day to make new generation aware of the teachings and activities of Gandhiji .
