Digi Yatra has been launched at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport in Guwahati, Assam on Sunday 20 August, for a paperless boarding facility for air traveller.
Assam Industries & Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary inaugurated the service at the LGBI airport. Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt of India Rajiv Bansal; Secretary Transport, Govt of Assam, Adil Khan and Chief Airport Officer Utpal Barua were present on the occasion.

At present the initiative is implemented in one gate of the present terminal, and two airlines – Indigo and Akasha Air have used this facility.
“Within September 30, all other airlines will apply this facility, Later, the facility will be used in six gates of the new terminal” said Utpal Baruah, chief operational officer of the LGBI airport in Guwahati, Assam.
Digi Yatra is a mobile application-base facility conceived to achieved contactless, seamless processing of passengers at airport based on Facial Recognition Technology (FRT) .
It helps travelers pass through various checkpoints at the airports through paperless and contactless processing using facial features to validate their identity and travel details.
