Assam Cabinet Decision: The weekly cabinet meeting today, January 12, presided over by Assam Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, made several major decisions regarding tourism and the skill sector, including the installation of smart metres, which will also aid in the creation of new job opportunities in the state.

In order to boost the river tourism sector, the cabinet is considering launching a river cruise service in Guwahati that will connect five locations.

Ferry services will be available between Kamakhya, Ashwatthaka, Umananda, and Daul Gobinda.

The Assam government announced on Wednesday that the state’s Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) will not be held for the next two years.

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu stated that the decision was made due to the large number of candidates who passed the TET examination in comparison to the available vacancies.

“CTET qualified candidates will now be allowed to apply for jobs beginning this year,” Pegu said. Candidates who have already passed the CTET will be able to apply for open positions.”
