On Wednesday, the Assam cabinet decided to scrap the optional papers that candidates take during the APSC’s ACS/APS recruitment exams.
The combined competitive exam (CCE) for recruitment of Assam civil service (ACS), Assam police service (APS), and other allied service officers in the state will no longer include any optional papers.

The Assam Public Service Commission conducts the CCE for the recruitment of ACS, APS, and other allied service officers.
The Assam Cabinet was held at the Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati. All the ministers sat on the floor at the Cabinet meeting at 4 pm. Assam Cabinet met in the newly refurbished Gandhi Mandap hilltop in Guwahati to convene this week’s cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
APSC Optional Papers To Be Removed From The Exam.

Gandhiji visited the Saranya hills, so the Mandap was built there. It was inaugurated in 1970 by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Assam Chief Minister BishnuramMedhi.

The fact that CM Sarma is holding the Cabinet meeting at the Gandhi Mandap is unique because the Mandap has a different meaning. What was also intriguing was that the entire Assam Cabinet squatted on mattresses on the floor, with only improvised desks for files and papers.
Chief Secretary PK Borthakur, GSCL MD Lakshmanan S, Kamrup (M) DC Pallav Gopal Jha, and several officials from the GMDA, GMC, PWD, City Police, and other departments visited the site on December 4 to assess preparations for today’s meeting.
A cabinet meeting was held in Cachar district last month, during which several development initiatives for the Barak Valley were announced.
During their most recent meeting, the cabinet also approved three more flyovers in Guwahati.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated an Rs. 8 crores 50 lakh rupees 3D planetarium in Nalbari on Tuesday.
The foundation stone for Assam’s first 3D planetarium was laid in 2012.
The chief minister will also go to Tamulpur to lay the groundwork for six projects.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote “Glad to inaugurate & lay foundation stones for 12 projects, including inauguration of Horticulture Research College, Sub-Regional Science Centre & Planetarium, foundation stone for integrated DC office complex, etc, worth ₹680 cr in Nalbari district.”
According to reports, the chief minister will lay the foundation stone for Tamulpur Medical College, as well as a bridge and several other projects worth Rs. 568 crores.
Notably, 76 years after independence, a bridge will be built at the Kumarikata-Kouli connecting road at the Bhutan border in Tamulpur district.
