Assam Budget 2023: Before presenting the state budget for fiscal year 2023-24 on March 16, Assam finance minister Ajanta Neog stated that this year’s budget will place a special emphasis on self-employment and education.

Ajanta Neog, speaking to the media ahead of the tabling of the budget during the ongoing session of the Assam Legislative Assembly, said that the government is pitching for overall welfare of the people, with a special emphasis on self-employment.

Assam Budget Session 2023: Key Points

Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog announced on March 16 the establishment of new engineering colleges in the districts of Nalbari, Nagaon, and Udalguri.

According to finance minister Ajanta Neog, the Assam government is considering establishing 100 Adarsh Vidyalayas (Model Schools) in tea garden areas of the state.

The Cabinet has decided to centralise the recruitment of College Principals and Teachers by constituting the Assam College Service Recruitment Board. This will relieve the candidates (College Principals and Teachers) from the hassle of applying to multiple colleges. The Board will provide a single window for recruitment. This will help avoid the selection of one candidate against various posts.
₹500 cr for Assam Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme. Destitute women whose accounts have become NPA will be benefitted. Borrowers of upto ₹25,000 will be prioritised.

Mukhya Mantri Ayushman Asom Yojana: ₹ 135 crore

Annual health insurance of ₹5 lakh to ₹27 lakh additional families.
